A long summer...

It's been months since I've posted.  My hiatus was mostly related to the fact that I ended my internship in early August, and was no longer in front of a computer all day.    I spent the end of my summer riding a ton, getting ready to school, hanging out with friends who were all going in different directions, and catching up on some well-needed rest.

However, I'm sitting here typing this from behind a work computer - once again I'm behind a computer screen for hours a day, and once again I will be blogging.  Yay, right?

I'll summarize the last few months in a rapid-fire bulleted list!

Alexis and I posing with the big guy.
  • Finally showed Gali.  1st place and 2nd place (out of three... still!) in both of my Intro classes, which lead to Reserve Champion of the division.  More importantly, Gali was a superstar and behaved like a total gentleman.  Alexis showed him that day, as well, and came in third in Training 3.  Considering it was her first dressage test EVER, and Gali was exhausted after being under saddle for three hours, they did great.
  • We began "trail riding" more frequently.  I still haven't crossed the road with him, but we play in the woods more and he's been pretty steady as far as not trying to GTFO when something scares him
  • Our dressage training is going great, we're working on his canter and I'm really happy with the progress we've made...
  • ...unfortunately, that might end, because the new barn owner is no longer boarding.  She's choosing to focus more on her own training and lessons, and while it's disappointing, I understand that everybody has limits.
  • We're moving to a barn up near Rutgers in November, and I'll be riding much more frequently.  However... still haven't found the barn.  If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know!
I was really proud of our free walk, so here, have a picture.
