Snap.

Snap had a partial necropsy on her left hind end.  The "reason" she was put down was because of the sinus tumors, but her nagging lameness was definitely a part of it - something wasn't right.  A trip to Mid-Atlantic over the summer did not provide much useful information, but the necropsy certainly did.  Quoted directly from Lauren's blog:

He started with her stifle and found that she had NO cartilage and NO ACL.  None.  Imagine that PAIN??  Moving up there was a fatty deposit.  Then there was the round ligament (which was thought to be the lameness problem) which was severely degraded and much smaller than it should have been.  Then there was her hip joint with sever scar tissue and joint degeneration.  Finally, a possible old track injury- a fractured pelvis.
Can you believe all that she was dealing with?  And that is just in ONE of her legs
Snap, you had so much heart.  We knew you gave your all whenever asked, but we had no idea how much your "all" truly was.

What an amazing mare.
