I'm really too tired and too swamped with work to go into details, but Katie took off today for no reason other than it was feeding time and she was on the track with a novice rider. A few bucks landed the girl on the ground, and after hours in the ER, the girl is out of commission for a while.
I thought her behavior on the trail yesterday was all me, but after today's spectacle it's obvious the filly needs a serious attitude adjustment. The problem is, she refuses to pull any shit with Bekka and she knows better than to push me past a certain point - so we can't really recreate that behavior enough to fix it.
She's being put into a new, solid-sided bit and I've offered to put some miles on her this week, but the call is now out for anyone who can sit a buck and stick a bolt to come out and help us adjust her attitude.
She used to pull this shit back in 2007 and 2008, but it's been a very, very long time and neither myself nor Bekka is anywhere near happy. It's beyond unacceptable behavior from a horse that certainly knows better.
Me, me! Pick me!
ReplyDeletePony play date this weekend most definitely. I'm not one to get mad at horses, but I am so angry with Katie. She clearly knows better because she doesn't pull this shit with Bekka or myself.
